My dear friends, May the Good Lord bring us together to pray for a more peaceful world, where we can share with our most needy 'brothers and sisters' not only the Good News, but the material things we have, more than what we need and others don't have at all.
In my dear country Honduras, we have come together to help Haiti and through the Red Cross we have sent our donations. However, for those of you, who only know the Third World, our rural and most poor live a daily Haiti without the earthquake. With the people of Haiti, our countries suffer the same fate. Our public hospitals lack a simple aspirin, an antibiotic to save a child's or senior from a death which shouldn't have to be. Just last month, the media was 'exposing' that for 'unknown reasons' some two thousand anti-viral medication was left to expire, some other thousand diabetic medicine was also also left to expire---- accountability? Nobody knows what that word means in this latitude.
This last Jan. I brought from Miami 150 pencils and took them to a grammer school because I know it's a big deal for the little poor kids in the outer city limits... and then felt embarrassed because there more kids than pencils and left with the promise that I would be back with more pencils...... on my way out, they said " if you can buy some writing plain workbooks, bring some as well.!!!!!----------at the senior facility (most of them have no homes) I failed to find some rubber 'shoes' for the walkers and wheel chairs; for some reason there are a few there, but are a hazzard because the metal on these walkers don't have them, a missionary told me I could look for tennis balls and slit them open and fit them and then they could be used without posing any danger for these seniors, so I'll try with a few and see if it works.
The new elected president, Porfirio "Pepe" Lobo has been sworn in and all of us are hoping and praying God, things will change for the best. I am looking forward to the new changes which should bring in security and jobs, which will make a difference in people's life. The kids started their school year with a prayer on the first day, as they are hoping, there will be no strikes in the educations system (teachers).-However, and ironically, the former "President Michelleti and his cabinet" are being now investigated, because as the media informs, while they were trying to defend democray from the bad guys, now, millions have disappeared; the presidential palace was left EMPTY, phones, videos, video-cameras, chairs, tables, you name it and it's gone, but no one knows who took them or where they could be.....???? Today Congress is discussing a bill which would "investigate" the past government officers savings, real estate, etc. etc. As I said before, I am optimistic and look forward for a better Honduras for all. Blessings to all of you. (P.S. It has been raining so much, and that just delays projects, work in general, and kids get bronchial disease which is a big big thing here)
